Malajube, Bienvenue à Londres!
Malajube brought their powerful, progressive brand of melodic indie rock to London’s Call the Office on Friday night. Hailing from Montréal, Québec, the five piece confidently moved between intense, rapid-fire rock and sweet-sounding, serene melodies, and there was a very prominent element of playfulness which set the tone for the evening. They played a tight set to an enthusiastic crowd and looked extremely comfortable on stage while they performed almost all of the songs on their acclaimed 2006 release “Trompe l’Oeil,” including an awe-inspiring rendition of “Fille à Plumes” and an ultra smooth performance of “Montréal – 40ºC.” These Québécois rockers write their songs exclusively en Français, but their dynamic and captivating sound proves that they are more than fluent in the language of rock. This was a high-energy blast of seriously enjoyable music and we will anxiously await the next visit from Malajube.
