americka savezna drzava Delaware, kojoj su nasi teenagerski favoriti Drop Nineteens, posvetili svoju cuvenu plocu, nije toliko plodna za indie bendove.

Dvoje prijatelja, iz grada Wilmington, sa dosta muzickog iskustva iza sebe, prosle jeseni, odlucili su da oforme zajednicki band, i nazovu ga The Sky Drops. Kako je danas internet, opasan alat, u rukama onih koji umeju da ga koriste, svega dve snimljene pesme, bile su sasvim dovoljne da skrenu pristojnu paznju na sebe...

Kao u slucaju Drop Nineteens, jednostavni ritmovi, fuzzirane gitare, i predivni musko/zenski vokali.

naucnici i muzika.
istrazivajuci posebnu vrstu ptica, na krajnjem jugu americkog kontinenta, Jonathan Meiburg, sreo se sa vrstom drveta, koja raste samo na Galapagosu, a zove se Palo Santo (sveto drvo).
Otuda ime za novi, cetvrti po redu album, teksaskog sastava Shearwater, koji je pocetkom maja objavila diskografska kuca Misra Rec.

Shearwater je nastao, pre nekoliko godina, kao side projekat, Jonathan Meiburga i Will Sheffa, clanova sastava Okkervil River. Kako su Okkervil River, postajali sve popularniji, a Will Sheff, sve zauzetiji, nije mu ostajalo dovoljno vremena za rad u jos jednom bendu. Palo Santo je ploca, na kojoj Jonathan Meiburg, u potpunosti iskazuje svoj raskosan talenat. Sve pesme, od prve do poslednje, su u celini, njegovo autorsko delo.

Dosta drugaciji, od prethodnih albuma, ovog benda, Shearwater sa novom plocom, predstavljaju pravo osvezenje u ovogodisnjoj muzickoj produkciji.

nekada je sasvim dovoljno, da imate prijatelja, koji poseduje svu tu neophodnu lo-fi opremu, za snimanje muzike i eto razloga da pokrenete bend. ostale muzicare potrazite preko oglasa, i vremenom stvari vec nekako dodju na svoje mesto.

tako su nastali Kite Flying Society, sedmoclani bend iz San Diega. Ime su pokupili iz filma 'Rushmore', Wes Andersona. Veliki fanovi ovog americkog reditelja smatraju da je njihova muzika, zapravo, ekvivalent njegovim filmovima. Postoje tek nesto vise od godinu dana, a prva ploca je vec na vidiku.

Kako je frontman i tekstopisac Dustin Illingworth, svrseni student knjizevnosti, nije nimalo cudno, sto je lyrics jedna od bitnijih stavki u kreiranju njihove muzike. Pesme su tople i romanticne, negde na pola puta, od Brian Wilsona ka Stephin Merrittu. Akusticna gitara, piano, i krajnje suptilni zenski vokali u pozadini, daju pesmama, vise nego potreban charm...

Debitantski album 'Where is the Glow ?', pojavice se 28. jula.

Sambassadeur su kvartet iz Göteborga, francuski studenti i veliki frenchpop fanovi, koji su sebi nadenuli ime, po jednoj od Gainsbourgovih pesama. Apsolutno, najvece nade svedske muzicke javnosti, za proslu godinu, kada su u potpunosti opravdali ocekivanja svojim istoimenim debitantskim albumom, a singlovi sa ove ploce imali pristojnu rotaciju i na vasem omiljenom radiju.

Novi EP, sa cetiri potpuno nove pesme, je mali hommage letu. Sve je podredjeno melodiji, mocne bass deonice, i sexy vokal Anne Perrson, dominiraju ovim izdanjem.

Me, I've been a Popsicle fan as long as I can remember (thanks to my sisters), and with last year's compilation "The good side of Popsicle" my interest in them was suddenly rekindled. nakon raspada The Smiths, tvrdio sam da je najbolji britanski pop bend, zapravo onaj koji je osnovao profesor matematike iz Leedsa, David Gedge. Za razliku od Morrissey/Marr uticaja, koje danas mozete cuti na svakom koraku, u slucaju The Wedding Present, i nije bas tako. Zato je pravo zadovoljstvo cuti bend, koji za svoje uzore ima, upravo njih.
U pitanju je cikaski kvartet The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir.

U osnovi pop, musko/zenski vokali, gostujuce trube (a ponekad i citav orkestar), i veliki songwriterski talenat Elia Einhorna, ipak cine ovaj bend dovoljno originalnim.

Nakon prvog albuma ' I Bet You Say That To All The Boys', koji su sami objavili, pre gotovo tri godine, bili su jos jedna od kopija glazgovskih Belle & Sebastian, danas je ipak dosta drugacije. U medjuvremenu jedan od originalnih clanova napustio je bend, sto ih nije omelo da nastave sa radom. Pesme, koje vec duze vreme sviraju na koncertima, konacno su snimljene u studiju, i trenutno traze svog izdavaca. Ukoliko sve bude kako treba, nova ploca, pojavice se do kraja leta.

Nastupi sa njihovim teenagerskim idolima Violent Femmes, pojavljivanje u FOX serijalu The OC, hvalospevi od strane frontmana The Flaming Lips, sigurno prijaju.

mozda i najbolji americki bend bez izdavaca u ovom trenutku...
